Colorado has around 40 operational casinos today. This is actually more than many other states in the USA. Most of these land-based casinos are found in the state’s three historic cities. However, there are also a number of casinos on Native American reservations. Casinos in Colorado
Colorado Casinos are mainly found in the mountain towns of Central City, Black Hawk, and Cripple Creek. There are also two Native American Casinos located in Towaoc and Ignacio.
Colorado casinos were originally introduced in 1991, these casinos were only allowed a very limited number of table and electronic games. Additionally, these games limited your single wager to a maximum of $5. New laws were enacted on July 2, 2009 allowing casinos to offer such games such as roulette and craps, and changing the maximum allowable bet to $100. These new laws also allowed for all Colorado casinos to stay open 24 hours a day.
Today Colorado casinos offer such traditional tables games as poker, blackjack, let it ride, three-card poker, craps, and roulette. They also offer electronic games including slots, video poker, video blackjack, and video keno.
All Colorado casinos have a minimum gambling age of 21.

Colorado casinos offer electronic games including slots, video poker, video blackjack and video keno, and table games of poker, blackjack, let it ride and three-card poker. Colorado’s limited gaming rules require that a single wager do not exceed $5. However, following new Colorado gaming laws as of July 2009 a single bet can now be up to $100.
Although initially Colorado gaming regulations do not allow the casinos to be open 24 hours, following new Colorado gaming laws as of July 2009, the towns of Black Hawk, Central City and Cripple Creek all offer 24 hour gaming.
The casinos are situated in the mountain towns of Black Hawk, Central City and Cripple Creek, and two Native Indian casinos in Ignacio and Towaoc. There are also cruises with casino on board in Crystal River, and a saloon in Breckenridge.

The Colorado Division of Gaming - The Colorado Division of Gaming, a division of the Colorado Department of Revenue, is responsible for the regulation and enforcement of limited casino gaming (gambling) in Colorado.
Black Hawk
The Lodge at Black Hawk and the Isle of Capri were the only two casinos with hotel rooms in that city, but now the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in Black Hawk also offers hotel rooms, which are really nice. The next closest lodging is at Harvey’s Wagon Wheel Casino, 3/4-mile up Gregory St. in Central City.
Another alternative is the Gold Dust Lodge, located on Highway 119, about 1.5 miles from the Black Hawk casinos. The Gold Dust features 23 remodeled rooms with private baths, TV and telephones.
The casinos in Black Hawk and Central City are located one mile apart. The Black Hawk Shuttle Service provides free transportation around Black Hawk and Harvey’s runs a free shuttle service from Black Hawk to Central City.
There are a few bus tour programs such as Ace Express, People’s Choice and Casino Transportation, Inc., operating between the metropolitan Denver area and Black Hawk/Central City. These programs are bargain priced and usually affiliated with one or two casinos that will reimburse a portion of the tour charge and also provide coupons or fun books.

Central City
Harvey’s Wagon Wheel Hotel & Casino is the only hotel in Central City but there are also a few bed & breakfasts: the Gregory Inn (7 rooms, phone 303-582-5561), Chateau L’acadienne (3 rooms, phone 303-582-5209) and the High Street Inn (3 rooms, phone 303-582-0622).
Teller House and Bonanza casinos have captive parking lots. There are also several small private parking lots in the immediate area which usually charge a small fee. Some casinos will reimburse this fee after a one-hour stay in their casino. Public Parking is also provided free of charge at lots B, C and D.

Cripple Creek
Cripple Creek has several hotel/casinos the largest of which is the Double Eagle Hotel & Casino. There is also a 67-room Holiday Inn Express, located 1/8-mile from the casinos. Free shuttle service is provided to and from the casinos. For reservations, call 1-800-HOLIDAY.
Denver Colorado Casino Guide
Many Cripple Creek casinos hand out Coupons and Fun Books at their doors. Also check the ads in the Colorado Springs Gazette, the Pueblo Chieftain and the free tourist magazines.
There are five casinos that sponsor their own shuttle service from Colorado Springs and Pueblo. It is called the Ramblin’ Express.
Most Cripple Creek parking lots charge a fee, which is usually reimbursed by the casino. Check at the lot for each particular casino’s parking rules.
